The Vice-Chancellor’s Student of the Year award went to Abbi Gore, who consistently demonstrated the highest standards of achievement throughout the year.

Most nominees were aware of the categories they were recognised for, but there were three surprise presentations

Outgoing Students’ Union President Dan Flatt was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award and a standing ovation. Dan became actively involved with the Students' Union very early in his studies, campaigning, creating societies and holding various Union positions. Through his involvement Dan acted to make positive changes for our students and has been successful in achieving recognition for the Union nationally.

Experience Officer Maryna Danny received the status of Honorary Vice President for her efforts in supporting Student Groups and caring passionately for the health and wellbeing of students at the University of Leicester.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Robert Burgess was also awarded the status of Honorary President of the Students' Union.

“The Vice Chancellor has been a great friend to the Students' Union,” said Dan Flatt. "He has always been happy to work with sabbatical officers over the years and was instrumental to the development of our wonderful Students' Union building.”
