Dr Lisa Smith invited to conference co-chaired by Angelina Jolie

The Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict is being held in London on 10-13 June.  This summit is being co-chaired by the Foreign Secretary William Hague, and the Special Envoy of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Angelina Jolie. It will be the largest international event ever held on the subject of sexual violence as a weapon of war and aims to tackle the culture of impunity that exists for perpetrators of these acts.

Dr Lisa Smith (pictured), Senior Lecturer in our Criminology department, has been invited to the expert meetings and Ministerial-led sessions to participate in the discussions relating to how forensic science can be used more effectively to document and investigate these crimes and provide access to justice for victims in conflict regions with an aim to improve the ability to successfully prosecute perpetrators.
