What regulatory reforms need to be put in place to prevent disastrous repeats of the 2008 Global Financial Crisis?

This is the question at the heart of a conference held by the International Finance and Banking Society (IFABS) – led by Dr Meryem Duygun and Dr Mohamed Shaban, Senior Lecturers in Finance from the School of Management.

Over 300 delegates from around 50 countries – including globally-recognised experts in the fields of banking and finance – will come together to present their research and professional expertise.

The central theme of the conference is ‘Alternative Futures for Global Banking: Competition, Regulation and Reform’.

In particular, the conference will consider what regulatory reforms might be necessary to ensure a competitive, but stable banking environment for the future.

This year’s conference will be held from June 18 to 20 at the ISCTE Business School in Lisbon, Portugal.
