Professor David Lambert from the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences and Director of Post-Graduate Research for the College of Medicine, Biological Sciences and Psychology has been named as the first international examiner for postgraduates in Iraq by the Dean of the College of Medicine at the University of Kufa, Iraq.

He has recently returned from the University of Kufa where he examined Master’s students and discussed post-graduate provision.

The Dean of the College of Medicine in Kufa, Dr Mohammed Saeed Abdulzahara said Professor Lambert was “the first international examiner for post-graduates in Iraq” as noted by the ministry of higher education.

Professor Lambert examined two students over a two day period. Both students were graded as 'excellent' and were comparable in the quality of their work to Distinction Master’s students from the University of Leicester.

Professor Lambert's visit was the second visit by academics from Leicester to Kufa and there have been a number of visits from Kufa academics to Leicester as well.
