Top barrister to deliver free public lecture

Department of Criminology to host first lecture in the Scarman Lecture Series 2013-2014

The Department of Criminology is to host the first free public lecture of the Scarman Lecture Series 2013 - 2014, entitled ‘A Prosecution Service for the 21st Century’, to be given by the Director of Public Prosecutions, Keir Starmer QC (pictured), on Wednesday 2 October 2013.

Keir Starmer was appointed as Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and Head of the Crown Prosecution Service in 2008.

Since taking up the post of DPP, he has introduced Core Quality Standards within the CPS and a robust quality assurance framework to ensure that all prosecutors provide a high quality service to the public.

Keri recently accepted an Honorary Degree from London School of Economics and Political Science, which will be awarded in December 2013.

The lecture will take place on Wednesday 2 October at 4:30pm in the Peter Williams Lecture Theatre.
