University supports talented student Lucy Hatton with funding for European events

Student Lucy Hatton (pictured), who is currently in her first year studying Criminology, has been provided with support by the University to help her further pursue her passion for hurdling.

The young athlete trains as a hurdler 6 times a week and has competed internationally across Europe. The support offered by the University will go towards funding Lucy’s trips to European high-profile events and the necessary training that is required.

Lucy has her sights set on competing in the Commonwealth Games. She said: “I want to thank the Vice-Chancellor for his support as this will allow me to study at a fantastic University and also keep training and competing at a high standard.”

Lucy has also been awarded a Gold Sports Scholarship by the University, recognizing her excellence, enthusiasm and potential.
