Colin Marshall picks up his Outstanding Achievement Award

Two members of the University of Leicester Bookshop team have been recognised at an annual awards ceremony for the Academic, Professional and Specialist Booksellers (APSB) Group of the Booksellers Association.

Jane Anger, who became manager of the University of Leicester Bookshop in August 2012, was shortlisted for the Academic Bookseller of the Year Award, voted for by a number of academic publishers.

Colin Marshall, Jane’s line manager, said:

“In an increasingly difficult marketplace Jane and her colleagues have begun to make the bookshop a more interesting place to visit. Given the unique relationship between publishers and booksellers it is particularly pleasing to see her contribution recognised by those on the other side of the industry”

Colin Marshall himself was presented with an Outstanding Achievement Award to recognise his contribution to the industry over the past two decades.

Colin, who spent two years as President of the Bookseller’s Association, won the accolade shortly after he announced that he would be standing down from the APSB Group after 21 years.

The award was presented by Mark Potter of the University of Warwick.

Thanking both sides of the bookselling industry, Colin said that they had “provided some of the most enjoyable and stimulating times” in his bookselling career.

Jane Anger was elected to the executive committee of the APSB Group at its Annual General Meeting, continuing the involvement with the University of Leicester and the Booksellers Association

The Booksellers Association is a membership organization for all booksellers in the UK & Ireland, representing over 95% of booksellers.
