A creative partnership between the University and a Leicester-based design agency has led to an innovation award.

Bulb Studios, a design firm based on New Walk, scooped an Innovation Award at the inaugural Leicester Mercury Business awards last week for their Crowdlab™ app.

The smartphone and tablet app allows participants to take part in fun and intuitive surveys whenever and wherever they like - vastly improving the quality of data that is sent back to researchers.

Dr William Green, from our School of Management, worked with Bulb Studios for two years as part of a Knowledge Transfer Partnership. He helped the Bulb design teams better understand user-centred design to ensure that new software applications are intuitive and engaging.

The University's Enterprise and Business Development Office supported and project managed the Knowledge Transfer Partnership. To find out more about how they can support you, contact 0116 252 2437, email or visit

The Leicester Mercury-hosted awards ceremony celebrated success, achievement and innovation in Leicestershire businesses. The ceremony included a keynote speech from Vince Cable MP, Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills.
