Heist Awards 2013

The University continues its award-filled year after claiming six national 2013 Heist Awards for education marketing – including the coveted title of Marketing Department of the Year.

HEIST 2013 2Our Search for Richard III, postgraduate and undergraduate prospectuses, "Women of Influence" alumni campaign and student recruitment campaign helped us scoop awards across the board.

Teams from our Marketing Communications Office, Press Office, Development and Alumni Relations Office and Student Recruitment Office attended the event at the Renaissance Hotel, Manchester on July 11.

Leicester took gold awards for Marketing Department of the Year, Best Postgraduate Prospectus and Best PR/Advocacy Campaign – for the second year in a row.

We also received a silver award for Best Alumni and Fundraising Campaign, a bronze award for Best Undergraduate Prospectus and a highly commended award for Best Student Recruitment Campaign.

Judges praised the University’s marketing team, describing its work as “simply outstanding, inclusive department where strategy is truly driven by market intelligence and insight”.

The ceremony was hosted by comedian Meera Syal, with a judging panel of senior university marketing directors from around the UK.

These awards are the latest in a string of top accolades awarded to the University in the last few months. Earlier this month, our Students’ Union was named the best university students’ union country at the National Union of Students awards. We took prizes for Outstanding Communications Team and Outstanding Fundraising Initiative at the Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards (THELMAS) in June.

HEIST 2013And among the academic awards received by University staff and students recently include the Busk Medal for Professor Sue Page, a Craft Guild of Chefs Award for Executive Head Chef Rob Bean, the East Midlands Engineering and Science Professional Prize for postgraduate student Louise Farmer and two new National Teaching Fellows at the University.
