“When the spirit says sing”: University of Leicester in gospel choir finals

Leicester University Voices

The University’s gospel choir, the Leicester University Voices (LUV), have made it through to the final eight in this year’s University Gospel Choir of the year (UGCY) competition, hosted by MOBO award winner Rachel Kerr. The hopefuls will compete against seven other choirs including defending champions Harmony Gospel Choir, from the University of Manchester, for the prestigious title University Gospel Choir of the Year.

The competition, now its third year, showcases the best in musical talent from universities across the country—and has drawn support from the Mayor of London, MPs and other influential individuals for providing young people with the opportunity to shine.

Leicester University Voices made to the final on the strength of an outstanding entry video, judged by a panel made up of leading figures in the UK’s gospel scene. The finals begin at 7pm on  Saturday 6 July, and tickets are available online for £12—so come along and see Leicester's superstars sing their hearts out!
