From book to screen: University of Leicester Library stars in short film

The University’s David Wilson Library provides the backdrop to a Shakespeare-inspired short film

The University of Leicester’s award-winning Library is set to take a starring role in an upcoming short film based on a Shakespearean comedy The Taming of the Shrew.

Unimaginably Tamed, a short film by Leicester-based filmmaking group Ignite Media, was filmed almost entirely in the University’s David Wilson Library. 

The film stars Leicester performing arts student Sorcha Newby, a finalist in the Miss England 2012 contest, and has been submitted to major film festivals, including Sundance, Cannes and the BFI London Film Festival.

The film-makers will present the film at Leicester’s Phoenix Square Cinema on Sunday, April 21, followed by a question and answer session. The event is free, but guests will need to reserve a ticket. Please contact:
