Collaborative temp agency launched to support students in Leicester

Today’s graduate employers look for well-experienced applicants who have not only achieved a great degree but also have a strong work-based knowledge to support their applications of work. Being a student and juggling both degree work and enhancing your employability skills can be hard.

Universities in Leicester have the answer; both the University of Leicester and De Montfort (DMU) are collaborating to help their students find part-time work during their degrees.

The new Unitemps employment agency will allow students to gain employment experience that will inevitably support applications for work after they graduate. With temporary work that can range from as little as one hour to as much as one year – there is something for every student.

Unitemps also supports and provides local companies with a large database of potential workers for specific work projects. The prospective employers will be able to advertise available work to a large pool of students from both universities.

Bob Athwal, Director of the University of Leicester Careers Service, said Unitemps looks to give students the opportunity to have experience that will add value in the world of work, experience is key.

Any profits made will be invested in developing student employability and campus facilities.

If you are looking for work or would just like some advice about jobs go down to your nearest branch - the University of Leicester’s branch will be located in the Percy Gee Students’ Union building while De Montfort University’s branch will be based within the Student Gateway in Gateway House.
