Free University of Leicester lecture will give clues to better understanding of the human brain

Professor Ruth Luthi-Carter of the University of Leicester Department of Cell Physiology and Pharmacology & the Department of Genetics will give her professorial inaugural lecture on ‘Deciphering molecular clues to better understand human neurodegenerative disease’ on Tuesday 16 October at the University of Leicester.

The lecture looks to explain how scientists are piecing together our brains molecule by molecule in an effort to better understand neurodegenerative disease.

The lecture will also highlight the strengths and challenges of this approach. Professor Carter stated that their research is similar to assembling many tiny pieces of a puzzle into a visible picture. By comparing a series of different molecular snapshots of the brain to one another, the researchers can see what is happening in the brain during a particular process.

The lecture is due to take place on Tuesday 16 October at 5.30pm in the Ken Edwards Lecture Theatre 1 at the University of Leicester. It is free and open to the public.
