A year for Hope

Dr Stewart Sale

Local charity, Hope Against Cancer has launched a network of Hope Diamonds to celebrate their 10 year anniversary.

The Hope Diamonds will act as the charity’s ambassadors, helping build knowledge and funds within their local communities. Each has been awarded with a specially designed and crafted Diamond pin kindly donated by Lumber Jewellers.

Dr Stewart Sale, Lecturer of Cancer Chemoprevention, Cancer Studies and Molecular Medicine at the University of Leicester, has set himself a year of personal endurance challenges to raise as much money as possible. Between now and September 2013, he plans to run between 6- 10 half marathons, the Edinburgh Marathon next may and will finish with a 700 mile bike ride from Leicester to Amsterdam and back in September. He has already completed the Nottingham and Leicester half marathons.

In order to raise additional funds and increase the profile of the charity to the university and hospital communities he will be organising additional events. These include a 5-a-side football tournament (Spring 2013) and a charity golf day (May 2013).

Dr Sale would like to encourage you to support his quest to raise money for the Hope Against Cancer charity and to sponsor him.

If people want to organise their own events and get involved with the charity they can do as well by either emailing Stewart on sls13@le.ac.uk or enquiries@hfcr.org
