Leicester placed 10th in The Good Teacher Training Guide 2012

The University of Leicester has risen through the league table ranks for its high quality of teaching. In Professor Alan Smither's Good Teacher Training Guide 2012, the University of Leicester is listed as a top 10 university for quality of teaching.

In 2011, Leicester was ranked as the 33rd best university, showing an enormous improvement over the last year. The modification of the ‘quality’ score to include the rating of newly qualified teachers has not substantially altered the overall order, with Leicester proving to be the most remarkable improver on the list.

With a score of 555.4, only just behind the University of East Anglia’s score of 559.5, the University of Leicester hopes to continue with the upwards momentum in 2013. A rise in entrance quality and newly qualified teachers helped improve the score, resulting in a noticeable improvement in the performance of the University within the criteria of the guide.
