Honorary visiting fellow Asaf Hussain writes the foreword for new book on Leicester businessman Jaffer Kapasi

Honorary visiting fellow of the University of Leicester, Asaf Hussain writes the foreword for Jaffer Kapasi’s new book – 'Life Story of Mr Jaffer Kapasi, OBE Muslim Businessman in Leicester, and the Ugandan Expulsion in 1972.'

The book records Jaffer’s remarkable life story, including his arrival in Leicester after Idi Amin forced the Asian community to leave Uganda in 1972. Since then, he has become a successful businessman as well as contributing to the city in many voluntary roles, including as a member of the University's Council.

The book reproduces articles from 1972 which tell of the opposition that existed at the time Ugandan Asians settled in Leicester. As result of sheer hard work and determination, the families that came from Uganda built a new future for themselves.
