Latest league table rates us highly.

The Times has published its Good University Guide today and Leicester is ranked 17th, confirming the consistency of our position as a top 20 university. We have also been ranked in the top 20 this year by the Guardian and by the Complete University Guide.

The Times Guide is, unfortunately, behind their paywall so we can’t link to it directly, but we can offer you a few quotes from their section on the University of Leicester:

"Leicester has become a fixture in the top 20 of The Times League Table, with consistently high levels of student satisfaction, generous staffing levels and high spending on student facilities. The university has shown the scale of its ambitions with a £1-billion development plan. The Queen opened the £32-million library in 2008 and another £16 million has been spent more recently on an award-winning students’ union."

"Leicester has the most socially diverse intake of any university in our top 20, aided by initiatives such as a summer school for local teenagers. An £8-million scholarship programme is designed to keep it that way, offsetting the impact of £9,000 undergraduate fees."

"The refurbished students’ union has won numerous design awards and achieved the Gold Standard at the 2011 NUS Environmental Awards for good ethical and environmental practice. The union is the only one in the country to contain an O2 Academy which has hosted gigs from the likes of Kasabian and Noah and the Whale."
