Honorary Graduates 2012 no.4 – Michael Shattock

Professor Michael Shattock is an expert on higher education – and consequently a valuable person to have in our midst after he picks up his honorary degree today.

Professor Shattock was Registrar of Warwick University for 30 years before becoming Visiting Professor at the Centre for Higher Education Studies within the University of London’s Institute of Education. He is also a founding Joint Director of the Institute’s MBA in Higher Education.

He has also provided advisory and consultancy services for universities throughout the UK, Europe and further afield – from Cyprus to Western Australia. He has written numerous books on higher education, including Managing Successful Universities, The Creation of a University System and Managing Good Governance in Higher Education.

He was made an OBE in 1988 and is married to another Professor Shattock - Joanne Shattock in our School of English.
