Student societies join forces for fund-raising bash.

Our Students' Union's Chemistry Society and Engineering Society teamed up last month for a formal ball, held at the Tigers Stadium. More than a hundred chemists and engineers - academics as well as students - donned their dinner jackets and ballgowns for a sophisticated, but fun, evening which raised over £400 for charity.

DJ Jamie Taylor and singer Zoe George, both ChemSoc members, provided entertainment, along with local magician John Constantine. There was also a raffle and a selection of archive baby photos forming a ‘guess the lecturer’ competition.

The money raised was split between Alzheimer’s Research UK and Save the Children. A full report on the evening’s events can be found on the Department of Chemistry website.
