David Harvie and Keir Milburn have written another article for The Guardian, one of the world’s leading online newspapers.
Leicester academics on the changing nature of the economic crisis

Dr David Harvie

The piece, titled “Ed Miliband’s ‘quiet crisis’ is down to capitalism” argues that the economic crisis that emerged in 2007-8 is becoming “a crisis of social reproduction – that is, a breakdown in the ability of individuals, families and communities (i.e. society) to sustain themselves, to educate and care for one another, and to develop.”

They go on to argue that in response to this crisis people have started to disentangle their social reproduction from the dynamics of the reproduction of capital.

Dr David Harvie is a Senior Lecturer in Finance and Political Economy and Dr Keir Milburn is a Lecturer in Political Economy and Organisation in our School of Management.
