LU Theatre present their latest production on 19 and 20 June.

The Marital Bed, this term's offerng from our student drama group LUTheatre, is a new play written by Emily Armstrong, who is a second year student in our School of English.

Synopsis:

"He's a social worker whose commitment is unquestionable, she's a budding photographer with the world at her feet, and they have just gotten married. Hugh and Viola love each other more than they love life itself and want to share each other without interruption, but with the world outside their marital bedroom pulling them apart, their capability of being a loving and understanding man and wife soon disappears.

"As their marriage is put under strain, their extreme love transforms into extreme adversity and desperation. How far would you go to recapture your true love and your one chance at happiness? Hugh and Viola are about to find out."

You can see the world premiere of this new play by an up-and-coming playwrite in the ARC, in the Percy Gee Building, on Sunday 19 June (matinee 2.00pm, evening show 7.30pm) and Monday 20 June (evening show 7.30pm). Tickets are £7/£5 from the Bookshop or on the door; you can reserve tickets by e-mailing Sarah on slj26@le.ac.uk.

(Also, please note that LUTheatre’s promenade production of The Pied Piper’s Magic Flute in the Botanic Garden on 11/12 June is now completely sold out.)
