Listeners in California who tune their dials to KUSP 88.9FM Central Coast Public Radio may find themselves hearing an English accent. That’s because Leicester postgraduates have been contributing to the station’s Poetry Show.

Led by Gwynne Harris, head of our International Study Centre, the students from our School of English have been recording segments for the US public service broadcaster around the University campus.

The Poetry Show is a weekly mix of readings and discussion and has so far broadcast three Leicester-originated segments – on the programmes broadcast 10 March, 20 April and 8 May – with more to come.

As well as broadcasting on FM and digitally on Sundays between 9.00pm and 10.00pm (California time), previous editions of The Poetry Show are available to download from the KUSP website. You can get the show on iTunes too.

KUSP is an independent, non-profit community radio station serving listeners in Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Benito, and South Santa Clara counties. Now in its 37th year of operation, KUSP serves 40,000 listeners per week with a distinctive mix of news/information, music and cultural programming. KUSP’s volunteer programmers produce seventy percent of KUSP’s schedule.
