Leicester picked up no fewer than five awards last night at the 2011 Heist Awards for Education Marketing.

In a busy evening at the Queen Hotel in Leeds, hosted by Sir Simon Callow, the University’s Division of Corporate Affairs and Planning made four trips to the podium and our Students’ Union also picked up an award.

Best ‘Digital Platform’ for Student Recruitment: Gold Award

Awarded for the MyLeicester applicant portal and the associated Facebook app which allows enquirers and applicants to track their Leicester application through their Facebook page. This work was led by Helen Pennack, Head of Marketing Communications, and Jonathan Tinnacher, Head of Student Recruitment.

Best Use of Market Research: Gold Award

Awarded for market research which the University commissioned and published in September 2010, ahead of the Browne Review, examining how raising the fees cap to £7,000 or £9,000 might affect undergraduate applications.

Best Postgraduate Prospectus: Silver Award

This is the fourth consecutive year that we have won an award in this category! Marketing Officers Amy Costello and Sam Winter led this work.

Best Alumni or Fundraising Campaign: Bronze Award

Awarded for last October’s Degree Certificate Award Ceremony when we rectified the long-standing anomaly that alumni who graduated between 1958 and 1965 didn’t actually receive a certificate. Submission prepared by Steve O’Connor, Director of Development

Best Internal Communications Campaign: Bronze Award

Awarded for the ‘I Love My Academic’ scheme in which students could nominate any academic who they considered outstanding. Submission prepared by Michelle Crooks, Corporate Communications Officer, and Alex Nutt, Students’ Union Academic Affairs Officer.

Congratulations to all involved in the submissions and the pieces of work which they described.
