An exhibition of sports photography and medical imaging is now on display in the University’s David Wilson Library.

‘Scanning for Gold’ features five athletes who are hoping to compete in next year’s Olympic and Paralympic Games. They have been photographed by Brighton-based photographer James Lewis and they have been given MRI scans at Brighton and Sussex Medical School’s Clinical Imaging Sciences Centre.

Combining these two types of views gives a unique insight into the way that leading atheletes develop their bodies. The accompanying text has been provided by academics from Brighton and Sussex Medical School and the University of Brighton’s Chelsea School of sports science, as well as the athletes themselves.

The exhibition is on the third floor of the University Library until 27 April 2011. If you don’t have a library card, ask at reception for access.
