University Division achieves Investors in People accreditation

Visitors to the Estates & Facilities Management Division may notice a shiny new plaque on display next to their offices in Fielding Johnson Building.

Following many months of preparation, a week-long assessment by an external assessor and a final ratification by the East Midlands Regional Recognition Panel, the Division has been accredited as an Investors in People organisation.

It is an award to be especially proud of as it acknowledges the contribution of employees across all of its varied and diverse sections.

They were assessed against forty six requirements covering all areas of business performance, from 'Inspirational Leadership' to 'Employee Engagement and Talent'. They were scored according to a traffic light system and we are proud to say there wasn't a red light in sight on their Findings Report.  All aspects of the Division were described as having established good practice or in the process of developing it.

The Estates & Facilities Management Division now has the option to consider having a further review in 2011 to aim for Bronze status. They have already met seven additional evidence requirements and are, to quote the Findings Report "well on their way" to achieving this.

The Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar joined staff in the Division for this photograph taken on the lawn outside the Fielding Johnson Building on a particularly frosty day last December (click it to get a larger version). It was followed by a reception in the Charles Wilson Building, where staff much welcomed a hot cup of tea or coffee.
