The BBC has launched its three-day live astronomy event Stargazing LIVE and University of Leicester astronomers are involved

A number of events for stargazers ranging from the curious to the professional will take place nationwide in the first half of January. Alongside this, BBC Two will be showing a series of programmes at 8.00pm from 3-5 January in which a few famous faces will give tips and advice on how to make the most of your own stargazing activities.

The University Observatory on Manor Road in Oadby will host a Stargazing LIVE event in association with BBC Learning on the 5 and 6 January 2011 between 6.30pm and 7.30pm, and again between 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
