Nigerian daily The Sun has announced the planned release of a comedy movie by talented writer Uduak Oguamanam.

Uduak Isong Oguamanam received her Master of Arts degree in New Media and Society from Leicester in 2009.

Writer, film director and upcoming producer Oguamanam is releasing her latest movie, a comedy entitled Okon Lagos, in collaboration with award-winning Nigerian screenwriter, Emem Isong.

Nigerian cinema, or 'Nollywood' as it is often referred to, is incredibly the second largest national film industry in the world, outranking even US production and beaten only by the film factories of Bollywood. Nollywood movies are distributed in many African countries, mostly on DVD, and can be picked up in the UK - if you know where to look (hint: you won't find them in HMV).

Oguamanam has already written several screenplays for Nigerian film industry, been published in a leading Nigerian literary magazine and in 2006 was one of the winners in the Commonwealth short story competition.
