Dr Andre Ng from our Department of Cardiovascular Sciences has been appointed as a Specialist Adviser to Interventional Procedures Programme of NICE, the National Institute for Clinical Evidence.

NICE is the NHS body responsible for providing national guidance on promoting good health and preventing and treating ill health. The Interventional Procedures Programme assesses and issues guidance on the safety and efficacy of surgical, endoscopic and endovascular procedures.

Specialist Advisers to the programme are selected because of their knowledge and experience of procedures and serve in the role for a term of three years.

Dr Ng is Senior Lecturer in Cardiology and is also a Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist with University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. Last year he became the first surgeon to perform an operation using an innovative robotic arm.
