Botanic Garden in bloom

It’s the semi-official start of spring at the University of Leicester: Crocus Sundays this week and next at the Botanic Garden.

Each year around this time the serried ranks of Crocus tommasinianus burst through the topsoil of the University of Leicester’s Botanic Garden in Oadby and we open the place up for a brace of ‘Crocus Sundays’.

Come down to the Botanic Garden this Sunday (27 February 2011) or next (6 March) and enjoy the display. Entrance is by donation to local charity Hope Against Cancer which helps to funds University of Leicester research. There will be a plant sale by specialist nurseries on Sunday 6 March for anyone who fancies a spot of horticulture at home.

NB. The Crocus Sundays were previously announced for 6 and 13 March but have been brought forward a week.
