The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission is providing five scholarships for students from specified Commonwealth countries to study, by Distance Learning, for an MSc in Risk, Crisis and Disaster Management at the University of Leicester.

The MSc in Risk, Crisis and Disaster Management is run by the Civil Safety and Security Unit, part of our Institute of Lifelong Learning. It "gives students the knowledge, skills and confidence to analyse the world of risks dispassionately and constructively and teaches them how to get at the truth of what Professor Ulrich Beck, the celebrated risk theorist, calls our ‘Risk Society’."*

Students from one of 26 territories identified as ‘low and middle income Commonwealth countries’ who apply to study this course from September 2010 may be eligible for one of five CSC-funded scholarships which cover all tuition fees and include some additional funds to attend study events.

Application deadline is 21 April 2010.

* Actually he called it 'Risikogesellschaft' which sounds a lot more impressive.
