Department of Health Director of Research gives public lecture
For two decades now, the Frank May Clinical Sciences Lecture has brought distinguished speakers to the University of Leicester. For the 2010 Frank May Lecture next week, the speaker will be Professor Dame Sally Davies who is Director General of Research and Development at the Department of Health and also Chief Scientific Adviser for both the DoH and the NHS.
Dame Sally chairs the UK Clinical Research Collaboration, oversees the National Institute for Health Research is a board member of the Office of Coordination of Health Research and sits on the Medical Research Council.
She is number 30 in the list of the 50 most powerful people in the NHS compiled annually by Health Service Journal. Among the academic-related projects in which she has been instrumental are UK Biobank and UK PubMed Central.
The lecture will be held in the Frank and Katherine May Lecture Theatre, Henry Wellcome Building, Lancaster Road, Leicester at 5.30pm on Monday 15 March 2010. Attendance is free but by ticket only: contact Anna Harding on 0116 252 2974 or aijh1@le.ac.uk.
