Two students from the University of Leicester travelled to Bulgaria this summer for the third SOFIMUN: Sofia International Model United Nations.

SOFIMUN replicates the workings of the UN, including divisions such as the Security Council and the International Court of Justice, with particpants spending a week debating – and passing resolutions on – matters of international importance. This year, the event also featured simulations of two EU bodies.

Two representatives from the Leicester University United Nations Society (LUUNS) flew out to Sofia for the event, which was held at the end of July: Lora Moutafova (who also attended SOFIMUN 2009) and Timm Hoffman. Their registration fees were subsidised by a society grant from the University of Leicester Students' Union.
