Checking progress and timescales

You can check on the progress of your requests :

Step one: Log on to your Library account by entering your University IT account username and password at the top of the screen.

Step two: On the My Account tab, select Requests

How long does it take?

Items immediately available for loan from the British Library are usually supplied within 7 days. Electronic or print copies of articles and book chapters may come more quickly than this.  However, you should always allow some time between your request being placed and the materials becoming available to you.

Items not immediately available or more specialist works may take much longer to be supplied. We will contact you via email if we require more information or if there are likely to be lengthy delays.

Some items may not be available for loan, we will notify you if this is the case.

In the event that the British Library is unable to supply them we will attempt to source the item(s) from another library. As a result it will take us longer to obtain the item.  Loans obtained from other libraries are subject to different loan periods and restrictions.

Please contact us if you have any questions and see the BL news notice for up-to-date information.
