Publishing your list

How to publish your reading list

Once you are ready to publish your list, you can do so by putting your list into Edit mode, and selecting Publish in the top-right corner.  The Library will then check your list and order new books as necessary.

Publish

If you have not already done so, your list now needs to be linked to the hierarchy. This will allow you to link it to Blackboard. To link your list to the hierarchy select 'edit' and 'Hierarchy & Students'. Type in your module code, select it from the list and click Save.  If your module code does not appear, please contact librarians@le.ac.uk so it can be added.  It is important at this stage to enter expected student numbers so that the library buys enough copies of essential texts.  We normally buy an eBook or print to a ratio of 1 book per 15 students.

Hierarchy

When you publish your list, it is made publicly available. You can link your list to your Blackboard site or distribute it using the URL.

Once you have published your list the Library is automatically alerted and will begin checking it:

For newly created lists we order any books on your list that the Library doesn’t have. We aim to buy eBooks and/or multiple print copies (1 per 15 students) of essential texts. We only order the latest edition of a text unless you specify otherwise using the ‘Note for library’ field when creating your list.

Please note that we do not check links to non-Library items such as general websites and YouTube videos.  For copyright advice please visit:

http://www2.le.ac.uk/library/for/staffwhoteach/copyright

For existing lists we check all newly added books and order additional copies as appropriate. We aim to provide eBooks or multiple copies of print essential texts according to the number of students taking your module. We will also only order the latest edition of a text unless you specify otherwise using the ‘Note for library’ field when creating your list.

Again, the list owner is responsible for checking non-Library items and their compliance with copyright.
