Publish your own online journal

University of Leicester Open Journals enables staff and students to publish open access journals.

Run by the Library, it currently supports three peer-reviewed academic journals:

We also host several student-led journals. All journals are fully open access and distributed under an appropriate Creative Commons license. The service uses open source software - Open Journal Systems (OJS) - running on a server managed by the Library. OJS is both a publishing platform and a content management system for journal editors.

As part of the service, we provide:

  • technical set-up
  • training on using the OJS system
  • advice on copyright, licensing and contracts
  • indexing with search engines and databases
  • ISSN and DOI assignment (from 2017/18).

We support both existing and new publications associated with the University. If you are interested in moving a journal to the system, or creating a new one, please contact us on: openaccess@le.ac.uk
