The Library has negotiated free or heavily discounted Open Access arrangements with several leading publishers.

Publisher Open Access discount schemes

Even if your paper is not eligible for support from the University's Open Access Fund, you may still be able to publish Open Access for free, or at a substantial discount, with one of the publishers below.  Please get in touch with the Library for more details.

Royal Society of Chemistry

Gold for Gold is an innovative experiment that enables researchers to publish their paper in RSC journals free of charge, as a Gold Open Access (OA) article.


University of Leicester papers are eligible for discounted APCs (at £200) for titles within Sage Choice and Sage Premier.  You should quote the code NESLi2015 to qualify. 


SCOAP3 is a partnership between libraries, funding agencies and research centres in 44 countries. Working with leading publishers, SCOAP3 has converted key journals in the field of High-Energy Physics to Open Access at no cost for authors.


Leicester has a Springer Contract that allows you to publish your article Open Access for free in any one of Springer's 1,600 qualifying journals.

Taylor & Francis

Taylor & Francis have made a limited number of vouchers available on a first-come first-served basis for Leicester authors offering a 75% discount on Open Access fees, reducing the cost to £450.
