Burrows Collection

A collection of manuscript and printed music composed by Benjamin Burrows

Benjamin Burrows Music

Benjamin Burrows (1891-1966) was first appointed as a Lecturer in Music at the University College, Leicester in 1924. His sister, Grace Burrows, was also appointed as a Music lecturer at the same time. He continued to teach at Leicester until the Second World War.

The Burrows Collection includes his compositions of songs, violin, piano, organ, chamber, orchestral and choral music. Also included are programmes for song and organ recitals by Burrows in Leicester in 1928 and some biographical and critical articles on the composer.

We are grateful to EMMLAC (East Midlands Museums Libraries and Archives) for their funding of a project to create a full Handlist for the Benjamin Burrows Collection (pdf).
