Description

British History Online (BHO) was founded by the Institute of Historical Research and the History of Parliament Trust in 2003.  It is a digital library of key printed primary and secondary sources for the history of Britain and Ireland, with a primary focus on the period between 1300 and 1800. 

Key Features

British History Online includes the Calendars of State Papers – including Domestic, Scotland, Ireland, Foreign and Colonial series (premium content).  The calendars are detailed guides or indexes to state papers – the originals can be consulted via State Papers Online or at The National Archives.   BHO also includes the Victoria County History - a record of England's places and people from earliest times to the present day, arranged in volumes by county (also known as the Red Book series).  BHO also has a range of Subject Guides – including guides to Biography, Religious History, Local History, Parliamentary History and Urban History.
