University wins Outstanding Library Team Award

The University’s library team was named as Outstanding Library Team of the Year 2012 in the Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards ceremony on 21 June 2012.

Their achievement makes Leicester the only university to win a THE award in six consecutive years. There is further detail on the THELMA success for the Library and the other University of Leicester departments that were nominated.

The award has been given in recognition of the team’s notable accomplishments in integrating on- and off-site library services. The judges were particularly impressed with the way the team overcame a “double challenge to respond to their student and staff needs in both physical and virtual environments…achieving a dramatic parallel improvement in the usage of both their physical collections and their web resources.”

Maja Mariceivic, Head of Higher Education at the British Library said that their work “offered a leading example of how to successfully remodel and combine on-site and online library resources.”
