Athena SWAN Awards

A summary of the University's current Athena SWAN awards

Institutional Athena SWAN

The University first obtained an institutional Athena SWAN Bronze award in September 2008, renewed in 2011 and 2014. The institutional Athena SWAN action plan is driven by the Gender Equality Action Group.

In 2018, the University successfully achieved an Athena SWAN Silver award.

Departmental Athena SWAN

Our first departmental award in 2010 for the Department of Infection, Immunity and Immunology. Our first departmental Silver award in 2013 in the Department of Health Sciences.

The University currently possesses 12 departmental Athena SWAN awards, 5 Bronze and 6 Silver and one Gender Equality Charter Mark Bronze . Our current awards are listed below, if you would like a copy of any departmental applications please contact equalities@leicester.ac.uk.
