Women of Influence

Women of InfluenceAbout the Network

There are many Leicester graduates who are women of influence – graduates who are making a significant impact on the world through their high aspirations and career successes. The Development and Alumni Relations Office at the University regularly celebrates these achievements with its flagship Women of Influence (WOI) series of networking events.  Each of these events is hosted by an alumnus or Honorary Graduate of the University.  We have been privileged to have women such as UK's Chief Medical Officer Dame Sally Davies, and renowned philanthropist Dame Stephanie Shirley as our special guests over the past five years.

In 2014 we launched the Women of Influence Guild to raise crucial scholarship funds to support women researchers and students whilst they are at Leicester. We raised over £7000 in 2014 and were able to successfully fund Emily Durham to pursue an MSc in Green Chemistry at Leicester. We are now fundraising for a second scholarship.

WOI involves women leaders in the life of the University and supports the development of mentoring relationships that will last a lifetime and that will support women graduates in building their individual learning networks.

If you are an alumnus, friend or staff of the University, and would like to get involved, find our more or make a donation to the Women of Influence Guild please contact Lisa Davies, Development Manager, ld109@le.ac.uk or 0116 252 2153
