Letter to VC to withdraw threat of compulsory redundancies

Following our recent EGM the following letter was sent today from the LUCU Committee on the 19th July:

To:
Paul Boyle, Mark Peel, Kate Bradley

Since the Vice Chancellor’s announcement of potential redundancies in April, LUCU has requested information about the rational and the process for redundancies to engage in meaningful consultation. A dialogue has eventually ensued where financial information as well as principles guiding institutional transformation have been shared with LUCU and the whole staff.

LUCU and its members continue to oppose compulsory redundancies and request that the threat of compulsory redundancies is withdrawn by the 31st of July 2016.

Should the University choose not to comply with our request, LUCU will declare a trade union dispute and will seek to further the dispute.

LUCU look forward to hearing from you.

On behalf of the LUCU committee
Christine Vie, LUCU President.
