First annual University of Leicester Facial Hair Competition

or

Movember began in Australia in 2003. Since then millions of people have been involved in countries all around the world. The money raised via the Movember Foundation has funded more than 1,200 men's health projects in the areas of prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men's mental health. More than £5 million was raised last year.

For Movember 2018, we are staging the first annual University of Leicester Facial Hair Competition. Taking part is simple. You have a final shave on 1 November, spend the next 30 days growing the most impressive moustache that you can, and ask your friends and family to sponsor you. Take regular selfies to let people know how your face-fuzz is progressing.

To sign up, please go to the Movember UK website, create an account, and join 'Team UoL'. Then use this entry form to let us know you're taking part. You can sign up at any time before (or on) 1 November - we will have a men's health stall on campus on that date with information about relevant issues, plus a mirror, hot water and razors for any impulsive late entrants.

On Friday 30 November we will have a parade of moustaches in the Students' Union with prizes awarded for

  • Best student facial hair
  • Best staff facial hair
  • Most sponsorship money raised

We will also have a prize for 'Best fake facial hair’. Anyone can take part in this - just turn up on 30 November with your wildest creation and £1 entry fee.

If you have any questions, please contact Mike Simpson mjs76@le.ac.uk

After 30 November you have a choice: keep the 'tache, shave it off or take things to the next level with Decembeard!
