Gillian Cross is an award-winning writer for children and young people. To date she has written over 40 books, including the acclaimed Demon Headmaster series which became a popular television drama. She won the 1990 Carnegie Medal for Wolf and the 1992 Whitbread Children’s Award for The Great Elephant Chase. After Tomorrow, her most recent book, was greeted with excellent reviews and has been longlisted for this year’s Guardian Children’s Fiction Prize. It is a gripping survival thriller of life as refugees for two boys following the collapse of the banks.

Acclaim for After Tomorrow:

"Cross ... is an expert storyteller: her plotting is seamless; her prose is supple and economical; she creates characters you care for, and depicts a world so plausible you can smell it." Linda Buckley-Archer, Guardian

"a fast-moving, incredibly exciting read. And what grips you most is that the story is scarily plausible. Highly recommended." Malorie Blackman, Children’s Laureate.
