The ceremony held on the morning of Thursday 14 July 2016 conferred degrees on students in the College of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities.

49 different qualifications were conferred on 591 graduates.

Honorary Graduates

The Very Revd David Monteith

An Honorary Doctorate of Laws was conferred on the Very Revd David Monteith, Dean of Leicester Cathedral.

"I feel very humbled to receive this honour on behalf of the entire Cathedral team and look forward to many more opportunities to serve this great city and county.”


Lars Tharp

An Honorary Doctorate of Letters was conferred on ceramic historian, consultant and broadcaster Lars Tharp.

“Before leaving for university myself I performed with several of Leicester's county and city youth orchestras, as well as Leicester University's own chamber orchestra, thanks to which I met my future wife, who was a student here, as is our elder daughter at this moment.”
