Magdalena Brzeska

Magdalena Brzeska My name is Magdalena Brzeska and I am a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Sociology at the University of Leicester. In my PhD research, I  explore the nature and possible distinctiveness of the experience of homelessness within the Polish migrant community in Britain, and how this impacts on identification and belonging. It will do so by exploring participants’ own experiences and perspectives on their pathways into, through, and out of homelessness. I want to focus on three main research questions:

  • What are the routes into and out of being homeless?
  • How does an experience of homelessness contribute to a sense of dislocation and disconnectedness?
  • Media coverage/government policies.

In terms of methodology, I will be using qualitative approach, particularly interviews and observation, and the research will take place
