Rules for Entrants

All entrants agree to abide by the competition rules. The University reserves the right to disqualify any entrant found to have failed to abide by the competition rules.

1. Entrants must be:

a. registered on a doctoral (PhD, MD, PsyD, EdD, EngD, DClinPsy, or DSocSci) or MPhil programme at the University of Leicester at the date of entry

and

b. registered on a doctoral (PhD, MD, PsyD, EdD, EngD, DClinPsy, or DSocSci) or MPhil programme at the University of Leicester at the date of the Festival of Postgraduate Research – i.e., 29 June 2017

2. Posters must be the original work of the entrant.

3. Copyright for the poster will remain with the entrant.

4. Entrants are responsible for ensuring that they seek, where necessary, permission to use their poster images or other content to which a third party holds the copyright.

5. If the poster features content which could constitute intellectual property - e.g., a research discovery with possible commercial value - entrants must obtain the consent of their supervisors and, if needed, their sponsors, to enter the poster for this competition.

6. By entering this competition entrants agree to their poster being used in promotional materials for the Festival of Postgraduate Research and related events in this and subsequent years. All posters used will be fully attributed to the entrant.

7. Candidates shortlisted to present posters based on their abstracts will need to submit final posters by 17:00 GMT Monday 12 June 2017. Entries received after that time will not be accepted.

8. Posters must be submitted as an MS PowerPoint file or PDF.

9. Posters must be submitted using the University’s FileDrop service and sent to festival@le.ac.uk

10. The judges’ decisions will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

11. Posters must be designed to be suitable for printing on A1 size (59.4 x 84.1cm)

12. Posters may be designed to be suitable for printing in either portrait or landscape orientations

13. Posters must clearly include:

    • the presenter's full name
    • the poster's title
    • the University logo on the top left corner and in its original colours

14. Posters must not include audio-visual content. Links to websites are permitted but Quick Response (QR) codes are not permitted.

15. Festival presenters are required to be in attendance for the full duration of the Festival - in 2017 the Festival is taking place on Thursday, 29 June. Failure to attend on the day of the Festival will result in a fine of £50 being charged to the presenter and the presenter's supervisor being notified.

16. At the Festival, presenters are required to act in an appropriate manner and to welcome and engage with visitors, guests, judges, and fellow participants.

17. At the Festival presenters are required to wear smart attire.
