Roles and responsibilities

The Students' Union, aided by your College, are striving to help you meet the needs of your fellow students while helping you stand out to employers by hosting a variety of events and workshops.

Course Rep expectations:

As Course Rep you will be expected to fulfill specific duties which include:

What you are not expected to do

It should be made clear the role of Course Rep centres on academic issues e.g. departmental issues, feedback and the delivery of your course. If a student approaches you with a personal matter thy should be advised to contact the Union Staff team.

Professional development

Being a Course Rep bestows a range of responsibilities that will benefit your personal and professional development. The majority of employers agree that the most important skills and personal qualities a graduate should have are:

  • Drive
  • Flexibility
  • Oral communication
  • Problem solving
  • Team working skills
  • Willingness to learn

Nominate yourself as course rep

When nominations are open, a button will appear in the navigation list to the right (or at the bottom of the screen for most handheld devices). Until this time you will not be able to access the nomination pages.

  1. You may nominate yourself only once
  2. You may nominate yourself only for your course and within your year-group
  3. You are not permitted to nominate on behalf of another student
  4. If you are a joint degree student, you may only nominate yourself for the course associated with your home department.
(If you are unsure which is your home department, please speak with your department administrator)
  5. If your nomination does not meet these criteria your entry will not be valid.
