Student digital improvements

We have already made a lot of changes to the way that students interact with the university. We summarise some of the key developments here.

Student Lifecycle Change Programme

The Student Lifecycle Change Programme (SLCP) is a major strategic initiative which aims to improve the services underpinning the quality of the student experience. A major part of this is the digitisation of the student journey, right from application through to graduation. From improved calendar service and automatic timetabling, through to online bookings and a personalised online student journey, the programme aims to deliver transformational change, enabling seamless student services.

MyUoL app

In September 2016 we introduced MyUoL, a customisable mobile app which integrates key elements of the student experience into one easy-to-use app. It includes students' personalised timetable, OneDrive, a find a PC section, library loans and search, a campus map and an immediate feedback button to give their views direct to the University. The app has been downloaded more than 14,000 times and is available from the Apple Store and Google Play.

Reflect Lecture capture

Following lobbying from the Students' Union we introduced the Reflect lecture capture system across our campus in September 2016 to allow students to review and revise lectures and seminars they have attended. This records teaching events and has been incredibly well-used, with 43,798 hours of undergraduate teaching viewed, an average of 4.4 hours per student.

Attendance Management

From the start of 2016 we encouraged students to "Swipe green and be seen" as we rolled out a new electronic attendance system, allowing them to mark their attendance at lectures quickly and easily, making it easier to track and support their progress.
