Get involved in the digital enhancement of learning and teaching

The Digital Innovation Partnership (DIP), a Digital Strategy project led by the Leicester Leicester Institute, is an new opportunity for staff and students to digitally enhance learning and teaching.

How does it work?

Staff and students jointly identify areas where the use of technology will make a positive contribution and work together to design, implement and evaluate a new or enhanced digital practice within a course.

The DIP compromises of a 3-way partnership of:

  • Digital Associate: A student who has confidence and experience in a range of digital tools and approaches
  • Digital Innovator: A member of staff who wishes to improve their digital knowledge and skills
  • Digital Advocate: A more digitally experienced member of staff who provides insightful advice of implementing ideas

Benefits

For students: 

  • Receive accreditation for your involvement in this scheme through recognition on the Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR) and through a Digital Associate open badge (digital credential).
  • Use the digital and employability skills developed from the experience as part of your Leicester Award.
  • Receive an incentive of upward of £150 for your involvement in the form of either a bursary, wage or tablet device (details to be confirmed).
  • Outstanding student contributions will be put forward for the Student Awards.

For staff: 

  • Teaching staff involved in this scheme can use this as evidence of development of digital teaching practices as part of your continuing professional development and applications for Higher Education Academy fellowships or senior fellowships.
  • Outstanding contributions will be put forward for the Discovering Excellence awards and University Distinguished Teaching Fellowships.

Aims of the project

  • Involve students as active partners with staff in the design, development and/or delivery of teaching resources, activities and approaches, by drawing on their experience, perspectives and motivation.
  • Share and recognise good practice and innovation in digital approaches to teaching and learning, in a way that is meaningful and beneficial to staff and students.
  • Establish a supportive and sustainable model of staff and student development of digital literacies in relation to teaching and learning.
